Tempe First United Methodist Church Scholarship Application

Purpose:

The Scholarship Committee grants annual awards paid out from the Helen M. Whitman Fund and the Lucille S. Bailey Memorial Trust Fund and from other earnings through investments administered by the Tempe First United Methodist Church Foundation.

Criteria and Procedures:
A student candidate must:

1.       Be a member or regular attender of Tempe First United Methodist Church and/or a member of the Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry at Arizona State University.

2.      Furnish two (2) written character references from persons other than relatives:  at least one must be an Endorsement from clergy, staff, or congregation member of Tempe United Methodist Church.  The other must be from one of your current professors or counselors.  References must not be more than a year old. These forms can be submited online.

3.      Furnish official proof of acceptance and/or enrollment in an accredited school or higher education.  This may include a copy of your unofficial transcript. Copies of ID cards are not accepted.  Full-time enrollment is a requirement. 

4.      Complete the attached application form and the requested essays.

The Scholarship Committee will review candidates based on the following criteria: service to/through the church and academic achievement and promise.

Deadline for submitting application and required materials is April 31, 2021.
